The Eternal Prize and Everlasting Life

SALVATION THE ETERNAL PRIZE AND EVERLASTING LIFE

There comes a moment in every believer’s journey when we realize that life is not a sprint but a sacred race, one that stretches beyond the boundaries of time and space. It’s a race not just of endurance, but of faith, obedience, and love. And at the finish line awaits the Eternal Prize not a medal made of gold, but the crown of glory that never fades. When I think about this race, I’m reminded of Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 9:24: “Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.”

For years, I have witnessed many races on the track, in life, and in faith. I have witnessed believers stumbling, fallen, been broken, and restored. But through every season, one truth has anchored my spirit: our ultimate victory is not of this world. The world teaches us to run for success, applause, and comfort. But the Gospel calls us to run for salvation, sanctification, and service. It’s a race where the only worthy goal is to know Christ to be transformed by His love and to reflect His light in a dark and weary world.

In our fast-paced, achievement-driven world, it’s easy to forget that eternity is real. Heaven isn’t a distant idea it’s a promise, sealed by the blood of Jesus. When Jesus said, “I go to prepare a place for you” (John 14:2), He was assuring us that this life is not the end of our story. Every time we forgive when it’s hard, serve when no one’s watching, or hold onto faith when life feels unfair, we take another step toward that Eternal Prize.

I believe the meaning of Eternal life is not merely about living forever; it’s about living with Him, in Him, and for Him both now and for eternity. Jesus said in John 17:3, “Now this is eternal life: that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.” Eternal life begins the moment we surrender. It begins when our heart turns from self to Savior, from striving to resting, from fear to faith. It’s not earned through works or performance it’s received through grace, through the finished work of Christ on the Cross.  For me, the “Salvation Run” is not just an event or a movement it’s a spiritual reminder that life itself is a divine marathon. Each of us carries a baton of faith, and our mission is to pass it on to the next generation, to our families, to our communities.

Every day is a training ground for eternity. The trials we face strengthen our spiritual endurance. The moments of worship become our warm-ups for heaven’s praise. The acts of love we show are glimpses of heaven’s glory. So let us run this race with perseverance, fixing our eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). Let us remember that though our bodies may grow weary, our spirits are being renewed day by day. Because at the end of this journey, we won’t just find rest We’ll find Him. And that, my friends, is the Eternal Prize the joy of salvation, the beauty of everlasting life, and the glory of being in the presence of the One who loved us first.

Reflection: If you’ve been running through pain, loss, or confusion don’t give up. Every step of faith brings you closer to your crown. Keep running, not for applause, but for the Eternal Prize.Because heaven is real. And Jesus is waiting at the finish line. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8
